Simply put, this article is about the reasons why ppl say SxR are not meant to be. This article was again, lifted from Imminent Romance, with lil notes scattered here and there.

Q&A

Fan: Rei is made from the DNA of Yui Ikari. She is therefore a clone of her.
Reply: Absolutely untrue. Rei is only partially Yui Ikari, and from what i've witnessed, her appearance and body are the only parts of her that "resemble" Yui Ikari. Rei does not act, talk, or dress like Yui Ikari.

Syao:Does not talk like Yui? That is good for you. Oh no, I'm arguing w/ my fellow RxS fan!

Fan: Rei sometimes uses Yui Ikari's words or does certain things like her. An example is that she told Shinji "That is good for you", which Yui said to Shinji. And when Rei held a rag, Shinji implied that she looked like his mother.
Reply: You have to remember, Rei was created by some of Yui's, and other "donor's" DNA, and was raised and shaped by Gendou, unaware of any being known as herself. Gendou wanted Third Impact to reunite with Yui. But in the mean time, he used Rei. Gendou shaped Rei like Yui. That explains why Rei sometimes uses Yui's quotes and cleans like her.

Syao:Sometimes..ah, that answers my question.

Fan: Rei is Yui. Toward Gendou, it's like they are married. Rei has the soul of Yui Ikari.
Reply: (Buzzer) Rei does not have Yui's soul. Rei's soul is derived from Lilith. And if you remember, it is said that ALL souls are derived from Lilith. Unit 01 has Yui's soul. She acts toward Gendou that way because she is told to, he's her creator.

Syao: Right! Plus Gendou loves Yui too much to take on Rei. Puh-leeze! Cut the old man some slack!

Fan: The soul of Unit 01 could only partially be Yui Ikari's. Rei could be harboring some of the soul of Yui. When Shinji asked Rei to smile, she did so, but this is because she though he was Gendou.
Reply: It has been stated the soul of Unit 01 is all Yui. And about the smiling thing, I don't remember Rei saying she regretted smiling for Shinji. And about Gendou, would Yui do what Rei did to Gendou in the End of Evangelion? And if Rei really was Yui, Rei would be able to perfectly synch with Unit 01. However, Unit 01 rejected Rei. Think about that. And another thing, Rei could project an AT Field. Could Yui do that?

Syao:*chokes* Shinji reminds her of Gendo's face?!! Wu-hoo! You're killing me!! Long live the genes!!!

Fan: Rei is Yui. The AT Field projection comes from her soul, which is derived from Lilith.
Reply: Go watch again. It is said that all of Angels' souls are derived from Lilith, but so are all of the human souls! All souls are derived from Lilith. This proves Rei is human, and has her own soul.
Syao:Yui.Yui.Yui.
(Related to the above) Fan: All humans have an AT Field. Kaworu said so. So, Yui had an AT Field.
Reply: You mistook what Kaworu meant. The AT Field he was talking about was our psychological AT Field. It's the field that allows us to be individuals, and not the 18th Angel. (Chairman Keel Lorenz gave up on his individuality, and wanted Third Impact. He had a "weak AT Field". Shinji rejected Third Impact so mankind could be individuals again. He had a "strong AT Field". Funny, that) The AT Field Rei is able to project comes from her Angel DNA.
Syao:ANGEL DNA? I thought she was a human?
Fan: After Shinji finds out that Rei is part Yui, part Angel, he begins to avoid Rei.
Reply: Shinji says he no longer has the courage to confront Rei. Remember, he has lost almost everything psychologically or physically. He's lost a lot of faith. But, remember he summons Rei's soul in Episodes 25 & 26, even after he has lost Kaworu and Eva.

Syao:Or maybe, Rei has halitosis from not opening her mouth often to speak, so Shinji's avoiding her.

Fan: Angels and humans have different types of souls. Rei is not human.
Reply: All souls, Angel and man alike, come from Lilith. Plus, it can be said Angel is just another form of human (I wonder how many tons of stereroids you would need . . .). Plus, Adam was the first human and Angel and Lilith was the second human and Angel, proving souls of man and Angel are the same. Rei is human.
Syao:Right. whatever. Sounds good..moving on!
Fan: Rei is part Angel. She can't love.
Reply: Oh really? Are you sure? THEN EXPLAIN WHAT REI DID FOR SHINJI IN EPISODES 25 AND 26 AND EOE, AND ALSO EXPLAIN KAWORU, AND KAWORU WAS 100% ANGEL, AND NOT TO MENTION HIS SOUL WAS THE SOUL OF ADAM!!!

Syao:Who are you to say who can love and who can not? You are not God! You're not even Hideaki Anno, for pete's sake!!(I'm talking to Fan)

Fan: In the End of Evangelion, Rei wastes everyone into the 18th Angel.
Reply: I have a simple answer. According to EoE, she does it to be with Shinji. 'Nuff said.

Asuka and Kaworu

I will combine my reasons why I'm against AxS or RxK.

AxS

1. Shinji treats her only as a friend..ok, an attractive friend that he nearly kisses (and then later kisses) one cold night. But that is not love. It's lust. As for Rei..he has this instinct to take care of her and protect her. Now that's love!

2.Asuka is just trying to get everyone's attention that she has to tinker with Mr.Courageous Express.

3.Just to spite Rei (whom I know she hates with all her heart), she plays with Shinji.

4.Rei loves Shinji much more than she can ever do. Why? Asuka loves herself more.

Finally..

5.Asuka got interested with Shinji out of plain boredom. Ouch.

Kaworu's a gay! I mean, they'll just both fight over Shinji!
